What does 925 mean on jewellery?

925 means the piece contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. In practical terms, this gives the jewellery more strength for daily wear while still keeping the look and feel of real silver.

Is 925 sterling silver real silver?

Yes. 925 sterling silver is real silver, and the 925 mark is one of the most common purity stamps used in jewellery. It is the standard many buyers look for when they want genuine silver rather than plated material.

Does sterling silver tarnish?

Yes, sterling silver can tarnish over time because of exposure to air, moisture, sulfur, and other environmental factors. The good news is that tarnish does not mean the piece is fake, and regular care helps keep the shine.

How do you clean 925 silver jewellery?

Use a soft, lint-free cloth for routine cleaning and keep the piece dry when not in use. Avoid harsh tools and abrasive scrubbing, since those can scratch the surface and damage the finish.

What is the difference between sterling silver and gold-plated sterling silver?

Sterling silver is the base metal, made from 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. Gold-plated sterling silver starts with sterling silver and adds a gold layer on top, which gives you the silver base with a warmer look.
